Billingshurst Coronavirus Support Group

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I order and pay for shopping?
A. You can order via our phone or email desks. Shopping should be for ‘essentials’ and restricted to around 10 items. Shopping will usually be done on Tuesdays and Fridays if ordered the day before between 10am and 2pm. You can pay on delivery with cash or cheque, or after delivery by bank transfer.

Q. Can I order shopping for other people.
A. Yes. Call in or email the order and we’ll arrange this with you.

Q. Can you collect prescriptions for me?
A. Yes – we will collect from the Billingshurst and other local pharmacies. Please ensure you know when the prescriptions are ready. We request prescription collection requests are with us by 2pm for collection the next day unless in case of emergencies.

Q. Where do you operate?
A. For shopping, we deliver anywhere in the ‘RH14 9x’ area. For prescription delivery, we collect from the Billingshurst and other local pharmacies for local delivery.

Q. I know a vulnerable person who needs help. Can you contact them?
A. We will try and help people who contact us directly, but suggest you initially refer concerns about another person to the Neighbour Wardens who can be contacted on 07795 051529 or 07795 051516. We work with and respond to follow-up requests from the Neighbour Wardens. Please call us to discuss.

Q. I see you offer food parcels. How does this work?
A. We operate with the help of Horsham Food Bank. The food parcels are intended for those who find themselves in financial difficulty, due to the crisis. Call or email us for more information.

Q. I have some food to donate. Can you collect it?
A. We will arrange collection of non-perishable goods, for redistribution to those in need. We avoid collection of small donations, as this unnecessarily exposes our volunteers. Call or email for information.

Q. How can I donate some money to help with your work?
A. We have set up a ‘Justgiving’ page to allow this here Money collected will go towards funding food parcels for local distribution and community produced facemasks. If we have excess funds at the end of the crisis, we will direct these toward local (Billingshurst) community support groups.

Q. I want to volunteer – how do I sign up?
A. Whilst we have a reasonable bank of volunteers, we do want to respond to prospective volunteers quickly and use them where we can. We have a nominated individual who reviews new volunteers and determines how they might fit. Send in your details and you will be contacted. If you are able to help, there’s a simple sign up process to go through before we put you in the pool of volunteers.
